Appollo 8 Oefentoernooi

Good news everybody!! 

Your favourite flagship is finally back from summer break. Last saturday (6th of september) the men in orange and purple were invited to take part in the Appollo 8 pre-season tournament. Your favourite team went there with a squad consisting of 2 setters, 3 middles 3 outside hitters and 1 opposite. I hear you thinking "but why no libero?"; everyone is a libero. 

The first match was a close encounter with the, all to familiar, star studded team of Apollo 8. Because they had players like Wijtse, Rens, Mikal and newly transferred Jip, our boys decides to donate the win to these Harambee outcasts. 

The second match was against LIFO. (All my homies dislike LIFO) A game that started off really nice, but apparently, if you are 22-18 in front and you let the opponent serve 7 times in a row you still end up losing. Big shoutout to our new Libero talent Mitch though. 

The last game we got to play against Dynamo G4, the only team in the tournament that was at second division level last year. They consisted of a bunch of young guys, but despite the age gap being in our advantage, Harambee left the first set feeling like little boys. Second set, fueled by the south american temperament of Martin, went much better. The guys decided they did not want to leave the tournament without winning a set, so they won their last set of the day. Leaving the best for last.

The important part of the day came later on. Our favourite men joined in on a pubquiz hosted by Apollo 8, and the team was called Eenzo Knol!! After a lot of dumb questions about the region of Twente, recognising Henk the singer and listening to Baila de Gasolina way more then needed, they came out second of about thirty teams.  

Also Wybren almost drowned his phone because he went diving for balls. But that's a story for another day. (If you see him around campus ask him about it!)

Overall it was a good day getting to know each other and getting used to the amount of meat wouter an mitch can eat.
