Traveled to Travelssen
As always, we started our match preparation with a solid foundation. For this we had 'brunch' at Maartens keet, for which we gathered at 9. This might have been a bit early as leidinggevende Martin needed to be picked up from his bed. But alas we were complete and traveled to Rijssen.
No work done without coffee, so the few spare minutes we had were spent on black gold, but only the bare minimum because we had a tight schedule for the day. And thus many mouths were burned on the coffee tempo. In the spirit of Movember, Jorrit obtained some compliments on his Stache, further fueling the pre-match spirit.
The first set started dramatically. The team wasn't fully awake (according to Gemini, the caffeine spike should occur after 30 minutes so no clue were that went wrong) and both the passing and attacking were sloppy. The most painfull part was that the opponents didn't actually score, either we scored or we made a dumb mistake. We were our own worst enemy and the most easy balls often did not return from the opponent. Slowly we got back into control and we took the set.
The second set we were well in the oil and showed that if we stop making mistakes and just gave away easy balls, those were the blueprints to passing inspections. On top of this, almost all attackers were on fire so a clear victory was ours.
The third set it was time for subs. Four fresh forces added to the squad. Sadly we were back at square/set one. The team wasn't awake/warm and were behind 10 point. Then we decided we did not want to lose and crawled back. You know what they say: whoever wins the last two points wins the set. Thus we did and were only ahead from 23-24 and what comes afterwards.
The final set the opponents were warmed up. They proved to also have attacking power and the pressure was completely put on our side of the field. While the first set we focused on getting the ball over, this set we needed a consistent block or didn't stand a chance. Unlucky for them, we were also warm and were able to keep them at distance, claiming all 5 points for Enschede.
The first sets we only had to play the ball back
We didn't intentionally cause Martijn to have mini heart attack(s)
They improved
We dissapproved
The third set marked an un-Harambee-like comeback
